A family affair
Founded by Huck & Elsabe Orban in the early 2000s, The Lemon Tree is an Underberg institution. If you have visited Underberg, you have most likely stopped and sipped on a cappuccino in the warmth of the yellow-walled bistro.

The Lemon Tree has undergone some changes. It has recently been taken over by Sarah - a caterer/teacher - & Steven Clowes - an Underberg-bred farmer/lawyer - both passionate about Underberg and food. After time in the UK, immersed in the law & food industry (Steven studying his Masters at Oxford University & Sarah as a barista, caterer and cheese procurer at a local deli), they decided to return to Steven's hometown to start a new adventure. Thanks to God's perfect timing, the purchase of The Lemon Tree came about.

Our aim is to create a bistro that pioneers the use of homemade, local and seasonal farm produce from Underberg and its surrounds in its menu and farm shop products. We are surrounded by an incredibly talented community and wish to highlight that in our space.

You can read below what we plan to create over the next while.
A zest for local
At The Lemon Tree, we are passionate about offering our customers the best selection of local and seasonal produce. Our goal is that our farm shop and bistro will provide the perfect atmosphere for those who appreciate wholesome farmstyle meals and carefully handcrafted farm produce. Customers from near and far will be able to come and experience the best of the Southern Drakensberg's farm-fresh delights.

A community effort
By supporting our small farm shop and bistro, you will not only support those who work in The Lemon Tree, you will support many more families within Underberg and its surrounding communities. Our produce will be traceable - because it is made locally. This means you will be able to consume our products and food with a clear conscience.
